The Christmas vibe was definitely in the air as we set up the Halls V Halls quiz with MMU Futures and Residential Life. Brooks building was the perfect set up and looking very festive with a huge Christmas tree next to our quiz tables and a spread of mince pies, pizza and hot chocolate (with marshmallows… yes, marshmallows!) awaiting the student hustle.

May I just add, what a turn out! Supporters, quiz fanatics, students who happened to see the quiz and join in, hungry students looking for the pizza… who knows who was in the audience but, everyone looked like they were having a good time!

Everyone was sipping their hot chocolate as round one was unfolding. Our quiz master for the evening was the very witty Sam Illingworth who was at times baffled by some of the answers given by the teams – Who knew that Tony Blair was the prime minister at the start of World War Two according to The Winners… Unfortunately, round one had us say farewell to: Les Quizerables, Quizios, Team Baguette and even, The Winners.

Round two – the semi finals- the suspense was building. After a tense round it was time for Daltons and Langhams to leave their buzzers.

In the final round there was no messing about and game faces were on. Both teams were in it to win it and it was time to see who would come out on top…

The competition throughout the challenge was high but, the runners up who fought hard and made it a fierce competition were team RAs (Residential Advisors). Meaning, the champions, the victors, the winners of Halls V Halls 2015… Oui! Si! Yes! It was the Modern Foreign Languages Team, made up of Jas, Jonathan, Francesca and Anna! They bought their A game and came out on top, and just to add some Christmas magic they donated their prize to the Food Bank Collection!!!

Stay tuned for a video of the event!

The Halls vs Halls quiz was the second social event from MMU Futures this year. Keep your eyes peeled for the next one in March!
